Get to Know the Admin Sidebar

Customize your World Design and Settings

You’ve already learned about several of the icons in the left sidebar in Understanding the SchoolSpace Sidebar. This article will briefly explain the icons in the admin section in the lower half of the left sidebar.

What is the Admin Sidebar?

In the lower half of the left sidebar there are some icons only visible to admins like Moderators. Students do not have access to these icons (unless they have been given admin permissions in the world). These icons help admins customize a SchoolSpace world through building, configuration, settings, and more! The admin sidebar has two views: Explore Mode and Builder Mode.

Explore Mode

When you enter a world, you are in Explore Mode. Your avatar can move around and connect with others and you can interact with content and other elements in the world. When you exit Builder Mode, you return to Explore Mode.

 

Builder Mode

When you enter Builder Mode, you can edit the world design and configure assets. Learn more about using Builder Mode!

 

 

Admin Sidebar Icons

The admin sidebar icons change depending on if you're in Explore Mode or Builder Mode. Students are able to access the Info icon but all other icons are only available to admins.

  1. Events event
    Shows a summary of upcoming Events in the world and allows you to manage Events. Learn more about scheduling an Event in SchoolSpace or get tips on hosting a successful event!

  2. World Settings settings
    View and modify World Settings. This menu contains many admin controls such as enabling or disabling chat messaging, adding and removing admins, enabling or disabling a world password, opening or closing a world, enabling or disabling a guestlist, controlling camera and microphone access, screenshare access, raise hand access, and showing or hiding the Current Users tab.

  3. Info info
    Contains 'What's New' announcements and FAQs for using SchoolSpace(under 'Summary'). Student are able to access the Info info icon.

  4. Explore Mode world
    Highlighted while in Explore Mode. When you enter a world, you will be in Explore Mode. If you switch to Builder Mode, click Explore world to exit Builder Mode and explore the world!

  5. Builder Mode builder
    Highlighted while in Builder Mode. Click this to enter or exit Builder Mode. Learn more about using Builder Mode.

  6. Gallery Mode galleryMode
    Highlighted while in Gallery Mode. Click this to enter or exit Gallery Mode. Learn more about Gallery Mode.

  7. Assets assets
    Opens the Asset Library. From here you can add assets to your world, see and search for assets in the world under Placed Assets, and upload custom assets. Learn more about using the Asset Library.

  8. Scenes scenes
    Opens the Scene Library. From here you can browse SchoolSpace scenes, access your saved scenes, drop a scene in your existing world design, replace your world design with a completely new scene, and save your world design as a scene.
