What is a Scene?
A scene is a design of a virtual space in SchoolSpace. A scene can be a full layout of a world or smaller portions of design that can be used as building blocks to create a world. Think of it like a decorated classroom, playground, or game zone—all ready for you to use. Instead of starting from scratch, you can customize one of our ready-made scenes to quickly set up your world.
If your world is empty or you want to use a different scene, read Get Started with a Ready-to-Use Scene. Once you have a scene you like, keep reading below to learn how to make changes to the scene.

What is an Asset?
Assets are the building blocks of your scene or world and are crucial to the look and feel of the space you want to create. Every image you see in a scene is an asset. They can be simple like a rectangular platform or artistic like a weeping willow tree. The SchoolSpace Asset Library contains an extensive assortment of assets available for you to use!

Save Your Changes as a New Scene
After you’re done making changes to the visual design and interactive elements, we recommend saving your world as a new scene so you can easily use it again in the future. This is especially helpful if you want to revert back to an earlier version or use the design in a different world. All the changes you’ve made including adding links or spatial video or audio will also be saved.
To Save a Scene:
- In the left sidebar, click the Scenes
icon
- Click the blue Plus
button
- Fill out the Create Scene fields:
- Scene Name - Required, max 40 characters
- Scene Description - Optional, max 80 characters
- Reuse or Share
- You can reuse your saved scene anytime, or share it with others in your school or network (based on your permissions)
Adding a date or version number to your Scene Name or Scene Description can be very helpful if you save multiple versions of a similar scene.
