Understanding the SchoolSpace Dashboard

Access, Admin Tools, and Account Settings

This article explains what the SchoolSpace Dashboard is, how to access it, and what features and tools you will find in the Dashboard.

What is the SchoolSpace Dashboard?

The SchoolSpace Dashboard is the central place for managing your profile, friends, and virtual worlds. Whether you’re a student, teacher, or administrator, the dashboard offers role-specific tools to help you stay organized, informed, and connected.

 


 

How to Access Dashboard

Dashboard is accessed from within a world. This means if all your worlds are closed, students will not have access to Dashboard. 

To Access Dashboard as a Moderator, Manager, or World Owner:
  1. Enter any SchoolSpace world.
  2. Click World Settings settings on the left sidebar.
  3. Select any of the following options:
    • Analytics externalLink
    • User Sessions externalLink
    • World Bans externalLink
    • Channel Bans externalLink
    • Ban History externalLink
  4. The SchoolSpace Dashboard will open in a new tab.

 

To Access Dashboard as a Student:
  1. Enter any SchoolSpace world.
  2. To open Dashboard you can either:
    • Click My Account at the top of the left sidebar, then click View Dashboard externalLink
    • Click My Account at the top of the left sidebar, then choose Edit Profile externalLink
    • In the left sidebar, click Social Hub connections → Friends, then choose View All externalLink
  3. The SchoolSpace Dashboard will open in a new tab.

 


 

Dashboard Features

Once you've accessed Dashboard, you will see a blue sidebar on the left side of your screen. The options you see will depend on the role you have in SchoolSpace. All users can also click the profile icon in the upper right corner of any page to access options like editing your profile and changing account settings.

homeHubHome

The Home page lets students easily access worlds and see your friends who are currently in SchoolSpace. Moderators, Managers, and World Owners have more options available to them.

Students will see:
  • Recently Visited Worlds: See a list of worlds recently visited and click to Portal portalTo directly to them.
  • Friends Online: Check if any of your friends who are sharing their SchoolSpace location are currently active on SchoolSpace and portal to them. 
Moderators, Managers, and World Owners will see:
  • Everything students see
  • Recently Visited Worlds: See a list of worlds recently visited, click to Portal portalTo directly to them, view Analytics data, or view World Details settings.
  • Available Worlds: A full list of all worlds that you can access.
  • My Worlds: A list of all the worlds that you own or have Manager permissions.

 


 

connectionsSocial Hub

Social Hub lets you see all your friends and manage friend requests.

Everyone will see:
  • Friend Requests: See all friend requests you have received and accept or remove  them.
  • Friends List: See a list of all your current friends and Remove remove them from your friends if needed.
  • Add Friends: Click Add Friend and enter the person's SchoolSpace username to send them a friend request.

 


 

worldWorlds

The Worlds page gives students more detailed information about recent worlds. Moderators, Managers, and World Owners will have more options available to them.

Students will see:
  • Recently Visited Worlds: See the world name, when you last visited the world, and actions you can take. 
Moderators, Managers, and World Owners will see:
  • Everything students see
  • My Worlds: Worlds where you are a Manager or World Owner. See the world name, the number of users currently in the world, when you last visited the world, and actions you can take. 
  • Available Worlds: Worlds you can access. See the world name, when you last visited the world, and actions you can take. 

 


 

dataAnalytics

Access analytics like overall world data, asset interactions, and user activity. See the Analytics article for a detailed explanation of available analytics and how to make use of your data.

 


 

messageHistoryMessage History

Access direct, group, or channel messages from any student under your management. See the Moderation Handbook for a full walkthrough of accessing Message History.

 


 

reportReports

View all reports submitted that involve any student under your management. Reports also appear in your internal messaging system (e.g. Slack, email, MS Teams). See the Moderation Handbook for a full walkthrough of managing Reports.

 


 

recordRecordings

See recordings from any world where you’re listed as a Manager or World Owner. This page will only be available if you are a Manager in at least one world.

To View or Download Recordings:
  1. Follow the steps above to access Dashboard.
  2. Click record Recordings on the blue sidebar.
  3. To locate the recording you want to view or download either:
    • Use the filter Filter Results field to search.
    • Scroll the table to find the recording.
    • Click any column heading to re-sort.
  4. To view the recording, click View in Player preview in the Actions column.
  5. To download a .mp4 of the recording, click Download drop in the Actions column.

 


 

Account Settings

All users can manage in world alerts and browser push notifications in Account Settings.

To Change Account Settings:
  1. Follow the steps to access Dashboard.
  2. From any page in Dashboard, click the Profile Icon in the upper right corner of the page.
  3. Choose settings Manage Settings.
  4. To change Social Alerts, click the toggle to the right:
    • Toggle on to receive a ding sound and red dot indicator when you get alerts for your activity feed, messages, and friend requests.
    • Toggle off to silence these alerts.
  5. To change Push Notifications for new direct messages, click the toggle to the right:
    • Toggle on to receive a browser push notification when you receive a new direct message. You will not be notified if you have existing unread messages.
    • Toggle off to silence these notifications.

Push notifications are browser specific. Changing this setting will only impact your current browser. If you would like to manage notifications for a different browser, open that browser and follow the steps above.
