SchoolSpace Profiles
A SchoolSpace profile is a way for people to learn about each other. Profiles include your Availability status, Mood, Friendship Mode, profile image, interests, and custom color scheme.
Availability
Availability in SchoolSpace lets you quickly share if you’re open to chatting, busy, or focusing without interruptions. Your chosen Availability status is visible above your avatar, in your profile, and in the Current Users list so it's easy for others to find. This helps keep communication clear and respectful while making it easy to manage your time and attention.
The Availability options are:
Available: This signals an openness to communication.
Busy: This signals that you're currently occupied and may not respond to others.
Do Not Disturb: This blocks all notifications, ensures uninterrupted focus, and lets others know that you are not available.

Mood
Use Mood to share how you're feeling today. You can choose from 20+ preset options. Learn how to update your Mood.
Friendship Mode
Change your Friendship Mode to signal when you're open to making new friends.
The Friendship Mode options are:
🤗 Open to New Friends: This communicates to others that you are open to building new friendships.
🙅 Not Open to New Friends: This lets others know not to approach you because you're traveling solo or might be with someone you already know.
None Selected: This option will hide Friendship Mode from your profile.

Interests
When you include interests in your profile, SchoolSpace's Find New Friends tool will match your with others who share your interests. Choose up to 10 interests to get started!
Viewing Profiles
To View another User’s Profile:
- Click the other user's name from any of the following locations:
- Their Video Tile
- The Current Users list
- Your Friends list
- A Message they sent in Chat

View Profile to open their profile on the left side of your screen.
To View your Profile:
- Click your name from any of the following locations:
- Your Video Tile
- The Current Users list
- A Message you sent in Chat

To Update your Availability, Mood, or Friendship Mode:
- Follow the steps above to view your profile
- Click the Availability, Mood, or Friendship Mode dropdown and choose an option.
- You can also quickly update your Availability or Mood by clicking on your name in any of the following locations:
- Your Video Tile
- The Current Users list
- A Message you sent in Chat
- Click the Availability or Mood dropdown and choose an option.
Customize Your Profile
Customize your profile to make it unique! To make these updates you'll need to open the Dashboard Editor. In the Dashboard Editor, you'll see a preview of your current profile along with sections for updating your Profile Image, Colors, and Interests.
Dashboard Editor
To Open the Dashboard Editor:
- Follow the steps above to view your profile and click the Edit Profile button
- You can also click My Account at the top of the left sidebar → Edit Profile
- This opens the Dashboard Editor in a new tab. From here you can edit your:
Students can only open Dashboard from within a world. This means, if all your worlds are closed, students will not be able to make changes to their profile.
Your Profile Image
SchoolSpace lets you choose from a selection of profile images. Your profile image will be visible to others when they view your profile and in your video tile when your camera is turned off. You'll also see your profile image as the My Account button at the top of the left sidebar in a SchoolSpace world.
To Change your Profile Image:
- Follow the steps above to open the Dashboard Editor
- In the Profile Details section, hover your mouse over your profile image and click the Pencil
icon
- Click to choose an image
- Click Save Changes
SchoolSpace does not support uploading custom profile images.
Your Profile Interests
Choosing interests will help you make new friends! The Find New Friends tool matches people with shared interests.
To Add Interests to your Profile:
- Follow the steps above to open the Dashboard Editor
- In the Interests section, choose up to 10 interests from the list to help others get to know you.
- Click Save Changes
Your Profile Colors
Show off your colorful side with Profile Colors! You can change colors for your background, card, border, and text.
Profile Colors
To Change your Profile Colors:
- Follow the steps above to open the Dashboard Editor
- In the Customize Profile section you'll see options for Background Color, Card Color, Border Color, and Text Color
- For each option, enter a Hex Code in each text field or click the color square under each option to choose a color in any of the following ways:
- Hue Box: Click within the box to choose a different shade
- Color Picker: Click the dropper icon, then click elsewhere on your screen to use that same color in your profile
- Color Slider: Drag to choose a new color
- RGB Code: Enter the RGB numbers for the color you want to use
- The Profile Preview on the left will update to show an example of your profile with your new color choices
- Click Save Changes at the bottom of the Customize Profile section when you're happy with your new colors
You will see an error message if the colors do not meet accessibility requirements for color contrast. The message will tell you which color choices need to be changed. Changes will not be able to be saved until you've changed one of these choices to a higher contrast color.
Update your Availability, Mood, and Friendship Mode
Similar to the viewing your profile in a SchoolSpace world, in the Dashboard Editor you'll see a Profile Preview on the left side on your screen. From here you can also update Availability, Mood, and Friendship Mode. Just click on the dropdown and choose the option that best suits you!
