Banning can be used as a consequence for repeat disruptive, harmful, or inappropriate behavior. Your school can set your own guidelines for behavior that results in a ban. Encourage respectful communication first. Not every problem needs a ban. Sometimes a conversation is enough to resolve the situation.
Student Safety Actions
The following safety actions can be used by everyone including students.
Report User
Any user can submit a report of another user. When a report is submitted, moderators and school administrators receive a real-time alert in a location of your school’s choosing (e.g. MS Teams, Zoom, Google Chat, Email, etc).
Student Reports alert Moderators to behavior that may break school rules or need to be addressed. And, with real-time alerts, Moderators are able to address behavior issues immediately and, often face-to-face. Learn how to submit a Report.
Moderators can access reports in Dashboard. Recent reports in a world are also available within the world for 72 hours.
Block User
Blocking is like putting up a personal boundary. If you block another user, you will not see them, hear them, or be able to chat with them. Blocking is not permanent, you can always unblock someone. The user that you blocked will not know that you’ve blocked them. Blocking a user doesn’t stop them from being in the world or talking to others. Learn how to Block a user.
Students cannot block Moderators or world admins.
Moderator Safety Actions
The following safety actions can only be used by Moderators.
Remove User from World
Moderators can temporarily remove a user from the world as a de-escalation tactic. This action kicks them out, but they can rejoin, and there are no lasting consequences. Learn how to remove a user.
Ban User from World
Moderators can ban users from a single world or all your worlds, preventing them from re-entering. This ban can be set to expire on a specific date or remain in effect until manually lifted. Learn how to ban a user from a single world or ban a user from all your worlds.
Ban User from Chat Channels
Moderators can ban a user from chat channels, preventing them from sending messages to any chat channel. The user will still be able to see messages sent by others in chat channels. This ban can be set to expire on a specific date or remain in effect until manually lifted. Learn how to ban a user from chat channels in a world.
Ban User from Direct Messaging
Moderators can ban a user from accessing direct messaging. This ban prevents a user from sending or receiving one on one or group direct messages in all of SchoolSpace. This ban can be set to expire on a specific date or remain in effect until manually lifted. Learn how to ban a user from direct messaging.
Teleport User to Me
Moderators can instantly bring someone or multiple people to their location - like calling a student to your desk. This is helpful for refocusing group attention or guiding lost users. Learn how to teleport a single user or multiple users to your location.
