About Polls

Polls are a real-time engagement tool for Moderators, enabling them to create, launch, and manage polls directly from the Users Menu. Polls support live participation, configurable live result visibility, and post-event analysis via the SchoolSpace Dashboard.

Polls for Students

When an admin starts a poll, you'll see a notification in the lower left corner of your screen. You can open the poll by clicking on the notification or by opening the Users Menu and clicking the 'Tools' tab.

 

To Vote in a Poll:

1. Open the Poll by clicking either:
   • The notification in the lower left corner of your screen.

    

   • The Users Menu and select the 'Tools' tab.

    

2. Select an option in the Poll and click the 'Vote' button to cast your vote.

3. If the Poll creator has chosen to show results, the number of votes cast for each option will be visible live in the Poll.
4. If the Poll creator has hidden results, you will only see your own vote. You can change your vote when results are hidden. Select a new option and click the 'Change' button to change your vote.
   
   

    

5. When the Poll ends, you will see an 'Ended' tag in the upper right corner of the Poll. Depending on the Poll settings, you might also see the final results of the Poll.

Polls for Admins

Moderators, Managers, and world Owners can create, save, launch, or end Polls. These admins can also view Poll results in Dashboard.

 

To Create, Save, or Launch a New Poll:

1. Open the Users Menu. A page will open on the right side of your screen.
   
   

    

2. Select the 'Tools' tab at the top of the Users Menu.
   
   

    

3. In the Polls section, click Add a poll.
4. Create your poll:
   • Type a question (max 40 characters).
   • Type your answers (max 40 characters). 
   • Add an answer as needed (max of 6 answers).
   • Note: There must be a minimum of 2 answers. Answers can be removed by clicking the Remove icon.

    

5. Next to 'Show Results':
   • Toggle On to allow participants to see results live.
   • Toggle Off to hide results from participants. When toggled off, participants can change their answer while the Poll is live.
   • Note: You can launch a Poll with 'Show Results' toggled off to hide results during voting. Then, after ending the Poll, toggle on 'Show Results' to allow your students to see the final results after all voting is complete.

    

6. You can start collecting answers right away, save your Poll for future use, or delete your Poll. Click either:
   • Launch to start your Poll right away.
   • Save to save as a draft. You can set up a Poll ahead of time and access your draft even if you leave the world. Only you can access your saved Poll drafts.
   • Trash to delete your Poll.

    

7. Click View Results to open Dashboard and view all results of Polls in the world.

 

To End a Poll:

1. Open the Users Menu. A page will open on the right side of your screen.
   
   

    

2. Select the 'Tools' tab at the top of the Users Menu. Live Polls will have a 'Live' tag in the upper right corner.
   
   

    

3. In the lower right corner of the Poll, click the 'End Poll' button. The Poll will now have an 'Ended' tag in the upper right corner.
   
   

    

4. You can view the Poll results directly in the Users Menu or click View Results to open Dashboard and see results of all past Polls in the world. If 'Show Results' is toggled off, students will not see the final results of the Poll.
5. If 'Show Results' was toggled off during voting, you can toggle on 'Show Results' now to allow students to see the final results in the Users Menu.

 

To View Poll Results in Dashboard:

1. Open the Users Menu. A page will open on the right side of your screen.
   
   

    

2. Select the 'Tools' tab at the top of the Users Menu.
   
   

    

3. Click View Results to open Dashboard in a new tab. You'll see a table of Polls from the world with the following columns:
   • Question: The question entered in the Poll.
   • Respondents: The number of people who participated in the Poll.
   • Poll Ended: The date and time the Poll ended.
   • Actions: Select View Poll Results or Delete Poll Results .

    

4. Use Filter Results to search Polls by question or adjust the date and/or time to find the Poll results you need.
