What is the Unlock App?
The Unlock app allows admins to create reward-based challenges where students can earn emotes or avatar accessories by answering questions. Admins can choose rewards, create custom questions using several question formats, and save configurations for students to interact with. The app also includes engagement tracking so admins can monitor unlock attempts and successful completions.
How to Set Up the Unlock App (Admins)
To begin configuring the Unlock app, click on the Unlock app asset in your space. When selected, a drawer will open on the left side of the screen.
In the upper-left corner of the drawer, click the Settings icon to open the configuration panel.

Step 1: Choose an Unlock Type
Admins can create unlock challenges for students by first selecting an Unlock Type. There are two available options:
- Emote
- Avatar Accessory
If You Select Emote:
Choose the emote you want students to unlock from the dropdown menu.
If You Select Avatar Accessory:
First, choose an Avatar Accessory Pack.
Then, select the individual accessories students can unlock by checking the boxes next to each item.
You can include multiple accessories from the same pack in a single unlock challenge. For example, one challenge could unlock both a hat and a shirt from the same accessory pack. You can also create additional unlock challenges using other items from that same pack.
Step 2: Create the Question
After selecting the unlock item(s), enter the question students must answer in order to earn the emote or accessory.
This question will appear to students when they interact with the Unlock app.
Step 3: Select a Question Type
Next, choose the type of question you want students to answer. Available options include:
- Open Response
Any response entered by the student will unlock the reward. - Multiple Choice
Students must select the correct answer from a list of options. - Text Input
Students must type the correct answer into the response field. - All That Apply
Students must select all correct answers from the available choices.
Step 4: Add Answer Choices or Responses
Depending on the question type selected:
- For Multiple Choice or All That Apply, enter each answer option students can choose from.
- For Text Input, enter the correct answer students must type in order to unlock the reward.
- For Open Response, no correct answer setup is required.
Step 5: Save the Configuration
Once setup is complete, click Save Configuration to save the unlock challenge settings.
Viewing Engagement Data
After saving the configuration, admins can return to the Unlock app settings at any time to review engagement data.
The engagement section displays:
- The number of attempts students made to unlock the item
- How many students successfully unlocked the reward
- Which specific students unlocked the item
This allows admins to track participation and monitor student engagement with the activity.
