What is Trivia?

Trivia is a quiz game you can drop into any world. An admin can create and pick a set of questions and assign it to the Trivia asset. Players answer one question at a time against a countdown clock, and the faster you answer correctly, the more points you earn.

Students can see how they stack up against classmates and play again to beat their own best score. Finishing attempts can also unlock badges for things like answer streaks and perfect scores.

Playing Trivia

Everyone can play Trivia! You can play on your own and your score is posted to the leaderboard when you finish.

To Play Trivia:
  1. Click the Trivia asset to open the game.

  2. Review the question set overview in the app drawer. You'll see the quiz title, description, category, how many questions there are, and the difficulty level.

Note: If an admin hasn't assigned a question set yet, you'll see a message letting you know there's nothing to play — let your teacher know.
  3. Click Play to begin your attempt.
  4. Answer the question before the timer runs out.
    • Each question is timed on its own, and you'll answer one of three ways:
    • Multiple choice: Select the one correct answer.
    • All that apply: Select every correct answer, you need all of them to score.
    • Open text: Type your answer in the text box. Capitalization and extra spaces don't matter, but spelling does.

  5. Lock in your answer to confirm it and move to the next question. If the timer runs out while your correct answer is selected but not confirmed, you'll still earn partial credit for that question.
  6. You’ll see a message indicating whether you answered correctly.

  7. Keep going until you've answered every question to see your final score.

  8. Click the Scores tab to see your own attempts under My Scores and everyone else's under Leaderboard.

Only your best attempt counts on the leaderboard — a higher score always wins, and if two scores tie, the faster total time comes out on top.

Tips for Playing Trivia

  • Speed counts! A correct answer is worth up to 1,000 points, and the value ticks down the longer you take — so answer as soon as you're sure.
  • Read the 'all that apply' questions carefully! Partial selections don't score, so check every option before you confirm.
  • Don't worry about capitalization. For typed answers, upper and lower case and extra spaces are ignored.
  • Lock in before the clock runs out. Selecting the right answer isn't enough — if you don't lock it in time, you'll only get partial credit.
  • Play again! Only your best attempt shows on the leaderboard, so a second run can only help you.
  • Collect badges. There are a bunch of badges to earn for things like answer streaks, perfect attempts, and playing often.

Trivia for Admins

Editors, Designers, Managers, or world Owners can add the Trivia app to a world, build question sets, and manage the leaderboard.

To Add Trivia:
  1. Enter Builder Mode: Click Builder Mode in the left sidebar or press B on your keyboard.
  2. Click Scenes in the left sidebar.
  3. Search for 'Trivia' in the Filter Results search bar.
  4. Hover over the thumbnail image and click Drop Scene.
  5. Click an area in the world to drop Trivia in that location.

 To Assign a Question Set:
  1. Click the Trivia asset to open the app.

  2. Click the ⚙️ Settings icon.
  3. Browse the available sets; use the Filter box to search by title, category, or author. Click a set to see its details.

Note: If you don’t see any available sets, you’ll need to create one first. Check the guide on how to create a question set.
  4. Once you’ve selected a set, Click Assign to Asset to attach that set to this asset.

Only published sets can be assigned; a set still in draft won't appear as an option. If this Trivia already had a set assigned, assigning a different one clears the leaderboard, all saved results, and the top scorer. This can't be undone, so download or print the results first if you want to keep them.

To Create a Question Set:
  1. Click the Trivia asset to open the app.

  2. Click the ⚙️ Settings icon.
  3. Click + Create New Set at the bottom of the app drawer.

  4. Enter the set details: title, description, category, difficulty, an optional cover image URL and time per question in seconds - default is 20 seconds.

  5. Add your questions. A set can hold up to 20 questions.
  6. Choose a question type for each question and fill in the answer:
    • Multiple choice: Add 2–5 options and mark the one correct answer.
    • All that apply: Add 2–5 options and mark every correct answer.
    • Open text: Type the answer you expect. Players' answers are matched without regard to capitalization or extra spaces.

  7. Save your set as a draft, or click Publish when it's ready to assign.

Once a set is published, only the text can be edited. You can't add or remove questions or change the correct answers — that way students partway through an attempt never see the answers shift.

To Duplicate, Edit, or Delete a Set:
  1. Click the Trivia asset to open the app.
  2. Click the ⚙️ Settings icon.
  3. Select the set you want to change.
  4. Click Edit, Delete, or Duplicate icon.

Duplicating opens a copy of the set as a new draft, which is the easiest way to reuse a published quiz with different questions.

To View All Results and Reset the Leaderboard:
  1. Click the Trivia asset to open the app.
  2. Click the ⚙️ Settings icon.
  3. Click the Scores tab.

  4. Click View All Results to open a printable report of every attempt in a new tab.
  5. Click Reset Leaderboard to clear the leaderboard. Confirm in the pop-up window.

This clears the leaderboard, all saved results, and the top scorer marker, and it can't be undone.
